• Brisbane garden tour

    $95.00$115.00
June Open Garden at Bellis (Jerry Colbey-Wiliams) and Northey Street City FarmThe Queensland presenter for Gardening Australia, Jerry Colbey-Williams, has invited us to tour Bellis, his productive house and garden in Wynnum. This is a unique opportunity to see this amazing garden and learn from a master gardener. 20 years ago Jerry and his partner purchased Bellis, an old queenslander on a 800 m2 block in suburban Wynnum.  It has been transformed from a contaminated, uninspiring turf yard into an organic food forest. In what will be both an entertaining and educational experience Jerry will take us on a tour of his garden and explain how his demonstration home:
    • Retains and uses all rainwater that falls on the site
    • Treats and utilises all of its waste water
    • Produces all of its own electricity
    • Produces most of their food requirements
    • Generates a healthy income
On the way home we will stop for a tour of Northey Street City Farm.Address - Wynnum and WindsorDate/Time: 08:00am  - 6:00pm, June 16Includes tour costs and return transport from Cooroy Community GardensCost - $95 (Permaculture Noosa Members)- $115 (Non-Members)Bookings are essential.Maximum 30 peopleWhat to Expect08:00am                    - Bus pickup from Cooroy Community Gardens10:00 am - 11:30am  - Bellis (Jerry Colbey Williams demonstration garden tour)12:30pm - 1:30pm     - BYO lunch at Northey Street City Farm1:30pm - 3:00pm       - Farm Tour5:00 pm                    - Arrive home at Cooroy Community GardensSelect your payment here and nominate your Permaculture Noosa membership status.

    WORM FARM WORKSHOP

    $1.00$55.00
In what we hope will be the first of many, Permaculture Noosa is running a Pop-Up Workshop on Building a Living, Working Worm Farm on Friday 29 November, at 9.00 am at the home of Wendy Strathearn. We all know how important earthworms are in the soil, but compost worms can provide extra help by providing castings and worm juice, taking care of food scraps, recycling waste materials, and adding to the health of garden soil, food forest or wherever you need to improve soil health. Our presenter, Bill White, will be demonstrating and creating a living, working, worm farm from start to finish on the day. You will leave with all the knowledge you need to successfully manage your own worm farm into the future, and you and your soil will enjoy the rewards which come from the art of vermiculture, worm farming. There will be lots of time for questions throughout the day.Worm Farming can solve so many of our everyday recycling issues, and worms are free workers. They work 24/7 to help you recycle anything that was once living—cardboard, newspaper, shredded office paper, food scraps, vegetable scraps, leftovers and more. They don’t ask for anything other than your waste products, and in so doing, provide you with free liquid fertiliser, along with soil biology improver, which in turn gives you the soil to grow nutrient rich healthy food. It doesn't get any easier than that—they solve your waste problems and also hand you gifts, as well!Workshop DetailsName:            Building a Living, Working Worm Farm Date:              Friday 29 November, 2019 Time:              9.00 am to 2.00 pm (shared lunch at midday) arrive at 8.30 am Venue:           Wendy Strathearn's home, East Deep Creek (minutes from Gympie) Cost:               $10 per person Bring:             Small plate of food to share for lunch, fold up chair, water bottle, notepad and pen
