Your purchase supports the following initiatives:

  • creation of the Cooroy Community Garden Pavilion – a hub for skills, education and knowledge sharing
  • diversion of plastic from landfill as the bin is recycled
  • skills and jobs in the community as the bin has been crafted by the Noosa Community Training initiative
  • diversion of food waste from landfill, a major contributor to GHG causing climate change
  • sequestration of carbon from the atmosphere
  • production of nutritious food
  • conservation of soil biodiversity when applied to your garden

This continuous flow through (CFT) worm farm, is nicknamed Worm Flow as it is designed to produce beneficial flow-on effects as part of the Giving Soil initiative. If set up and cultivated correctly, the worm castings will contain microbial diversity which has the power to sequester carbon from the atmosphere, protect plants from pests and diseases and build soil structure, retaining soil moisture, and most of all producing nutritionally balanced food, healthy crops and trees. Here is the step by step Worm Flow set up instructions to support your Giving Soil journey. For more information on how to operate the Worm Flow and care for your worms contact Dr. Sandra Tuszynska at givingsoils@gmail.com.
