“Dreams come true”

Soon the Bendigo Bank Community Pavilion will be finished and the core elements of a super community garden will be in place.

What does this mean?

It means that we have a hub of learning, experimentation, sharing, and community.  It is a place where lessons are shared and stored.  In gardening there is a universe of knowledge, and this field is expanding every year.  We are a part of this evolution. For example, Dr Sandra Tuszynska has taught about soil ecology and the importance of the new “worm flow” version of worm farms. We made about 50 of them and now we have the jumbo version in the garden.  We will be taking Dr Sandra’s work to a wider, community level. Also, we have worked with Noosa Council experimenting with the double grind from community green waste.  We have integrated coffee grounds and horse manure to help it break down into wonderfully composted loam.

With the pavilion, we have learned how to make great cob structures. We made the walls!  We also made a wonderful pizza oven with the guidance and generosity of Rockcote and Bob Cameron. We have Sourdough Steve teaching us fermentation and how to use the oven. These are lessons in cooking and sustainability that we will pass on.

What does this mean?

It means there are fantastic opportunities for you to get involved with the club and join the revolution. It is the fast road to learning about gardening, meeting great people, and facilitating the learning to the community.  The club needs people to join the gardening committee and the pavilion committee. The club will also need new officers (See Tarla’s AGM article below).

The club is changing.  It has made the quantum leap to a vibrant, permanent place where everyday is club day!

See you at the grand opening, September 2 at 2:00 pm.

President, Permaculture Noosa

P.S

We now have solar panels on the pavilion!

Tony Morrissey owner of Celtic Solar has installed 15 solar panels on pavilion roof.
Tony generously discounted the price by $2,000.00 and Noosa Council granted us $2,625.00 towards cost.
The surplus power created will be fed back into the grid to create a passive income for our club.
