So, my first President’s message! Where to begin? Firstly, thank you to Latha for everything she has done for the organization & the community over the last 2 years. I am very blessed to be stepping into a role that has been so well crafted & nurtured by her. I am committed and excited to be bringing my own energy to the role and look forward to seeing what the next 2 years will hold for us all.

For those I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, here is a little bit about my background. I live with my partner Aaron, his mum Louise and another young family of three on our permaculture property in Pinbarren. Earlier this year I quit my career job within the medical industry to really find out what ‘health’ was. I have found my way to teaching yoga, growing food for the family & friends, caring for goats, ducks & chickens and taking time to learn more about myself. This has been a transformative year in many ways and I am so grateful to have found my way to Permaculture Noosa & to be able to make the connections I have made, and excited for the ones that are yet to come.

SO, that’s me! Let’s get onto the club.

What’s been happening for Permaculture Noosa since last PermaNews? Well, the past month has been exciting and productive. Our AGM on the 18th of October was a beautiful day at the gardens with lots of familiar and new faces. We saw the changing of the guard with myself stepping into the role of president, Johanna Scanlan becoming Vice President, Deb Quinn jumping into the treasurer position and Michael Quinn joining the committee. It is so exciting to have these wonderful people on board, bringing with them their own energy, ideas, perspective & knowledge.  The AGM was also a great chance for us to see the Master Plan for the community garden! It is AWESOME! Massive thank you to Aaron Mears for donating his time to put this together, bringing structure and guidance to the gardens & the volunteers.

The shelter fundraising is also going really well, and we are so thankful for the support of the community in buying raffle tickets, donating resources & donating time. We have such a dedicated and amazingly generous committee that volunteer so much of their time to make this happen and I could not be more appreciative of them. If you haven’t yet grabbed a ticket, jump on our website! We will be drawing the raffle at our Club Day on the 15th of Nov so please pop on down, we’d love to see you there!

Well, I think that covers it for now. Thank you all for being so welcoming and supportive of me as I jump head first into this role. I am really honored to be a part of this community and I look forward to growing with you all over the next few years.

With love, Petrina
