Hi Permies,
We are well and truly up and running in 2025 with a great lineup of guest speakers and events on the horizon. Kicking it off, we have a great Liquid Ferment Workshop on at the Cooroy Community Gardens on Saturday, March the 8th, with Kane from Red Soil Organics showing us how to make a liquid ferment application for our gardens. It’s only $15 for club members, including Morning Tea, so hop onto the website to secure your spot.
A huge thank you to member Aaron Chiswell, who has taken over the running of the kitchen on club night. With his decade of experience in a commercial kitchen, his first club night in the kitchen went more smoothly than I could ever have hoped. Also, a big thanks to my wife, Pernille and my son, Asher for organising and cooking the dal! Great job guys! And many thanks to Belmondos and Yukti Ayurveda for all the organic ingredients and the chai!
I’m also really looking forward to the March Club Night, and hearing David Trood (aka Weedy) from The Weedy Garden, expound on his permaculture journey and how he built his very successful YouTube channel. That should be a very entertaining club night. Make sure you put the 18th of March in your calendar.
The weekend following that will be our first Open Garden of the year, with our Vice President, Tom Kendall, opening up his farm, Permeco at Kin Kin for an Open Garden Event. It’s a great opportunity to see a well-developed permaculture system in action.
Following that in April, we will have Danial Lawton talking to us about the Magic of Swales on Club Night, and the following month, on Sunday the 18th of May, we are holding a Permaculture Winter Festival at the Cooroy Community Garden, and Geoff Lawton will visit us to be the keynote speaker. It’s also the club’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, and who better to help us celebrate than the founder of the club! There will be other guest speakers, workshops, music and food so put that one in your calendar as well.
And last but not least, in July we will be having a stall at the annual QLD Garden Show. Iris Bax is organising that, and will no doubt need volunteers for setup and manning our booth. Please contact here on 0411 646 086 if you’d like to help.
We are really trying hard to focus on our Events this year and getting them all up on the new look website, so it’s easy to see what’s coming and to plan ahead. Visit permaculturenoosa.com.au for more details of all these events, and please send any feedback about the website directly to me at president@permaculturenoosa.com.au
OK, it’s a busy few months coming up. As always, let’s get out there and show the world the benefits of permaculture!
Regards,
Geoff Powell
President
