PermEco Inc. is a partner of Permaculture Noosa………….

PDC Course: We are currently running a PDC course over 5 weekends in October at the Kendall Permaculture Farm. This course is primarily for local people and is a great way to generate a larger permaculture community in the Noosa area. Of course, we recommend everyone attending the course becomes a member of Permaculture Noosa!

On Monday 19 October we will be starting our next 6-week online PDC course and places are still available. All our courses are by donation, pay what you can afford, and result in a Permaculture Research Institute Australia accredited Permaculture Design Certificate. Our course calendar for the first half of next year is now on our website as well, if you would like to join one of our courses please visit https://permeco.org.

Events: After running a successful farm tour and music afternoon/evening on 30 August, we decided to run another Covid Safe event at the Kendall Permaculture Farm on 14 & 15 November. The event is called “The 40 Hour Jammin” and consists of 40 hours of non-stop music from over 60 musicians to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. The event is in its 4th year, but this is the first time a subcommittee of PermEco Inc is running it. We will also be raising money for participating artists to support them in these difficult times (most artists were unable to get government support when all their gigs were cancelled this year). We are very excited to have some of the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane area’s most well-known and respected artists play at the event! They are donating their time to help fundraise for no fixed remuneration, so please support them by donating or attending the event. There will be great food and coffee for sale, a massage stall to recharge, and of course 40 hours of non-stop programmed music and jams! For more information, tickets and to support the cause, please go to https://40hourjammin.com. Day tickets and weekend tickets available.

The Syntropic System: We have been busy at the farm, planting out our next section of the Syntropic area. This system is a great example of what can be achieved with bio-intensive polyculture farming in a short amount of time and fits in perfectly with the Permaculture principle. You can learn about Syntropic farming in Northern NSW from one of the Brazilian originator’s students Thiago Barbosa, click here for more information.

On the Farm: Due to Covid we have had a lot of cancellations from volunteers this year and we need help on the farm. If you would like to volunteer with us, even just one day per week, please contact us at info@permeco.org. You will learn so much working side by side with Tom. It is an excellent way to improve your permaculture knowledge and get hands on experience!

Redcliffe Community Garden: PermEco was asked to be involved with the setup of the Redcliffe community garden, and Tom is currently regularly visiting to help them. It is fantastic seeing more communities building resilience by starting local community gardens!

Our Animals: Spring is in the air, and to prove that our lady cows have given birth to a calf each! We also had some chicks hatch, and we are expecting some little goats soon… Exciting times (even though it is a lot of work…)!
