Some of you may remember my mother in law, Jill. She would visit the volunteers at the pavilion during the construction and bring scones. She loved the garden and appreciated all we were doing. Jill left us in December and the family held a memorial for her at the pavilion on January 11, 2025. It was a beautiful event!
The pavilion was absolutely amazing for the memorial. The 120 guests easily shared the space and enjoyed the ceremony. When the sun was hot in the morning, the pavilion was cool with a breeze flowing through. When the squalls came over and bucketed rain, we were comfortable with plenty of space to enjoy the catered food and tea. One special thing I noticed was how easy it was to have conversations. With no walls, the voices do not echo and create background sound. I think this is really important. Many people told me they were very impressed with the Pavilion!
When it came to setting up for the event and cleaning afterward, everything was very easy. The chairs and tables are stored meters from where we used them. The kitchen is easy to use with a big refrigerator, an oven and washing up facilities.
I would like to thank the Permaculture Volunteers for mowing the lawn and weeding, Sandra for meeting with us and organizing the event, and especially Iris for planting flowers days before.
I would like to thank the CWA who came for the memorial and especially Wendy Bebbington for enough pastries for all to enjoy.
The pavilion served as a valuable place for the community to celebrate the life of Jill, a long time local. We did a great job making the pavilion. It is a huge achievement, and Permaculture Noosa should be very proud!
Thank you,
Tom Wegener
