This month’s meeting is the Annual General Meeting. It is expected that the business of the AGM should be complete within less than 40 minutes.

Following the business section of the AGM, our guest speaker will be Sarah Lees-Barton, Nutritionist, coach, educator, permaculturist, eco lifestyle expert and lover of the good life. Her talk will focus on her permaculture journey, including healthy eating, medicinal herbs etc.

Sarah has been running kitchen garden programs in Steiner schools for the past 9 years having set up 2 programs (including a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program). With a nutrition degree behind her and a background in farming, permaculture and biodynamics, eco lifestyles and beekeeping too she is passionate about educating the next generation to love being in a garden and take the journey from seed to plate learning skills that will serve them for life.  She has a love for creating beauty in gardens and strives for not only abundance but health of any garden she has the pleasure of working in. Her catch phrase “Helping you lead a nourished life without costing the earth!”

Our second speaker Mel Hobbins will present us with some practical and cost effective soil improvement techniques, a planting style for the sub tropics and crucial areas for forward planning.

Mel has grown veggies for over 60 years in UK, central Africa and now Australia. In UK Mel had Community Allotment gardens most without a water supply. Despite what many think the summers in South East England are pretty dry.

Mel moved to his Traveston property 13 years ago and has developed an extensive orchard and veggie garden, is a regular presenter and open garden host.

Cool season and tropical veggie plantings are grown using varied styles. Continuous experimentation is practiced with soil management, planting techniques and varieties grown. Key to everything is making the most of the resources on the property and working with “mother nature”.

Do consider bringing friends or neighbours to our meetings. It’s how we grow the group and may be inspiring to them as well. See you there.

As always, you will leave the meeting better informed than you were at the beginning!

Permaculture Noosa monthly meetings are usually held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Doors open at 6.00pm when a market takes place where we share surplus home grown produce and plants by giving, exchanging or selling.

Entry is a $4 donation for non-members, $2 for members. The Entry donation entitles you to supper. Anyone who has genuine financial difficulties and cannot afford the entry donation will be excused. We will not turn anyone away. The meeting begins at 6.30pm and the night is complete with a “bring a plate” shared supper at 8pm. All welcome.

See you there……
