President’s Message 10th September 2017

Hello everyone, there’s lots going on in PCN at the moment and as you know the main one is the Cooroy Community Gardens.

We now have all of the legal, administrative and insurance requirements in place that were required to get the Cooroy Community Gardens alive and kicking. We, as the committee, were already trying to bring the objectives of the strategic plan into a tangible form when this great opportunity came to us. It’s a great opportunity and also a huge responsibility. I have no doubt that we will be able to manage everything required of us and the more people that get involved the more chance we have to succeed.

When I came to this position of President I had a vision to bring into place a project I had earlier presented to the previous committee. The minutes of that meeting in August of 2016 show the support for the idea. However, the reality is that just running the basic operations of the position entrusted to me keep me preoccupied leaving little time to do anything beyond that. When I talk with the other committee members they share that they are also busy doing their role. There are members of our committee who would easily work as diligently on their role as would be expected of a part-time employee. I can assure you that PCN does not have the funds to operate if the hours worked were to be paid for. I am certain that without these people PCN would not be here as it is today. I am saying this because we in the committee want to make the most of our time with your interest at heart. We would really like to know what your thoughts are about how PCN could be better and improved. We’ll tell you more soon.

This month’s meeting will be diverse, ranging from hi-tech of Dr. Ben Stewart with the electric car he built; to our place in nature, through the perspective of SCEC as presented by Narelle McCarthy, Liaison and Advocacy, Sunshine Coast Environment Council.

Then after that there will be a short ten minute presentation and guide on what to be planting for this present season.

Then last thing before supper, as per the new programme, we’ll draw the raffle and make the announcements.

See you there, Tim

Well done to the committee for making this a reality and giving Permaculture Noosa a home base while saving the gardens at the same time. A great outcome.
