Permaculture Noosa Monthly Meeting 15th February 2018

February 15 @ 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

$3 - $5

Our Keynote Speaker for February is Susie Chapman, Coastal Catchments Northern Area Manager and Regional Landcare Facilitator for Healthy Land and Water. Susie is well qualified, with a Diploma of Dietetics and Nutrition from Flinders University and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Biochemistry from the University of Queensland.

A quote from Susie’s Linked In Profile states: “Susie has a rare ability to work with people from different sectors that may appear to be in competition with each other, yet Susie brings them together to achieve extraordinary things, to benefit people, planet and profit. She works her magic through warmth, humour, creativity and a strong focus on getting results. I know no one else who does all this with such ease, charm and effectiveness.”She has a vast wealth of knowledge of subjects relevant to Permaculture. The title of Susie’s presentation will be “The Circular Economy for Organics” which will cover a wide range of topics pertaining to organics, including composting.

We shall also have our regular section on what to plant this month with Elisabeth Fekonia, a preview of the February Open Garden by Dee Humphreys, tips on safely and easily cleaning gutters and how to source cheap rainwater tanks. President Vic Bateman will talk on Permaculture Principle #2 – People Care. In this presentation, Vic  will describe the concepts developed by Florence Littauer through her fascinating and insightful book “Personality Plus” and other works. Vic will focus on how we can understand ourselves, including our strengths and weaknesses, and why we are different. Equally, we will learn how to understand others and how we can work with them.

Last but not least, Permaculture Noosa will be offering some great raffle prizes for the meeting, including casual tickets to his outstanding Perennial Permaculture Program. These have been generously donated by Dan. For details of the program, click on this link: http://permaculturenoosa.com.au/perennial-permaculture-program-•-dan-deighton/

Do consider bringing friends or neighbours to our meetings. It’s how we grow the group and may be inspiring to them as well. See you there.

As always, you will leave the meeting better informed than you were at the beginning!

Permaculture Noosa monthly meetings are usually held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Doors open at 5.30pm. Simple but tasty, low cost meals will be available from 5:30pm. Many of our members and friends not only find this very convenient, but it is also a good chance to catch up with other members and get to know others in a relaxed setting.

From 6:00pm a market takes place where we share surplus home grown produce and plants by giving, exchanging or selling.

Entry is a $5 donation for non-members, $3 for members. The Entry donation entitles you to  a free raffle ticket and supper. Anyone who has genuine financial difficulties and cannot afford the entry donation will be excused. We will not turn anyone away. The meeting begins at 6.30pm and the night is complete with a “bring a plate” shared supper at 8pm. All welcome.

See you there……
