24th June Workshop – Using your Tropical Permaculture Produce: How to Harvest, Process & Cook with Kilagi Nielsen (9.30 am)

Kilagi will demonstrate how to harvest, prepare and cook tropical Permaculture produce harvested from YCG gardens and her own. Come along and taste what we grow at YCG. The workshop will include a cooking demonstration and tasting of dishes using Cassava, Taro, Arrowroot, Banana and tropical greens such as Aibika (aka Queensland Greens). Kilagi will show you a number of ways to cook cassava – in a cake, as a roll with freshly prepared coconut cream, and as a vegetable. You will also learn which kind of banana leaves can be used as a wrap. Kilagi grew up in Papua New Guinea where these foods are part of the staple diet and knows how to prepare them in traditional & delicious ways.
