October 19 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

$2 - $5

URGENT!!! Due to (once again) the unavailability of the Cooroy Primary School Hall, our meeting for the 19th October will be held in the Cooroy Primary School Resource Centre. To access the Cooroy Primary School Resource Centre, enter the gate at the southern end of the school nearest the traffic lights which is the staff car park. Unfortunately there is no kitchen at the Resouce Centre, so we have been forced to reluctantly cancel the caterers for the 19th. So there will be no meals for this upcoming meeting. There are facilities for tea making, so supper is still “on”.

This month’s meeting is the Annual General Meeting. It is expected that the business of the AGM should be complete within less than 40 minutes.

Following the business section of the AGM, our guest speaker Susan Rodger of Eumundi Beef. Susan has just been on a trip to America as a guest of the slow food movement. She plans to talk about the inequalities in the food industry, where farmers who take pride in producing good quality nutritious food in humane, environmentally sustainable conditions, are facing unfair competition from large scale industrial farming businesses which are solely concerned with profit. There is a disgraceful story behind the low prices we see in our supermarkets. Susan will explain to us how large scale agribusinesses and other corporations in the food chain plunder the environment and unfairly exploit those who work for them, both in Australia and around the world.

Exciting opportunity, the Annual General meeting on Thursday night 19th October – there is a unique opportunity to help guide both the club and the strategic plan into 2018 and beyond.

Please for anyone with interest in supporting Permaculture Noosa and/or helping expand the principles and values of permaculture into the greater community please honour yourself or another with a nomination for club committee positions.
You can make nominations by forwarding them to current club Treasurer Wendy Strathearn treasurer@permaculturenoosa.com.au anytime up to and nominations can also be made on the night.
This is a very rewarding position offering an opportunity to help with some of the essential behind the scenes organisation that  helps the club run so well.   It is also a great opportunity to learn how a committee works and gain experience that is equally as useful for any official club organisation in Australia.
There is loads of support from previous committee members including systems sheets and operations manual that help make the adopting of these positions relatively easy.
Positions open for nominations:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary*
  • Treasurer
  • Cooroy Community Gardens Coordinator
  • General Members
  • Open Garden Coordinator*

* Volunteers to fill these posts are particularly urgently required.

There is a Nomination Form in pdf format below. Members can either complete the pdf form and send it to info@permaculturenoosa.com.au or print it, fill it out and post it or hand it in to a committee member at the AGM.

Permaculture Noosa monthly meetings are usually held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Doors open at 6.00pm. A market takes place where we share surplus home grown produce and plants by giving, exchanging or selling. Entry is a $5 donation for non-members, $2 for members. The Entry donation entitles you to  a free raffle ticket and supper. Anyone who has genuine financial difficulties and cannot afford the entry donation will be excused. We will not turn anyone away. The meeting begins at 6.30pm and the night is complete with a “bring a plate” shared supper at 8pm. All welcome.
